Yes, it seems to have solved the problem
Once I downloaded the latest version, I simply allowed it to setup in
the original directory containing the old programme. Hence, it
overwrote the old files. I hope that this was the best way to install
it.

ps. the new prog noticed that my version of DirectX was dated and
suggested an upgrade. But things seem to be working fine.
