Excellent! :-). http://portableapps.com/suite

It had exactly what I wanted:
> PortableApps Suite (Base Edition): If you'd like to pick and choose exactly which apps to include, you can try Portable Apps Suite (Base Edition). This is a stripped down package with just the PortableApps Menu, PortableApps Backup utility and custom folders, icons and autorun. It's less than 1MB installed, so it's a great option for smaller drives.

I wondered why? Found the answer here:
> Is there a way to autostart PStart when I plug in my USB drive?
> I'm sorry to disappoint you, this is not possible at all. It's not a PStart limitation, but a Windows limitation. Microsoft doesn't support it like they support autorun for CDs. Windows does read the autorun.inf file (if available) from CDs, which can be used to start any file on the CD automatically. But Windows does not read such a file from an USB or other removable device.

I can live with that! As long as the pop-up asks me if I wanna start
with "Portable Apps" that works OK.
