Some of the eye-candy is more than that. I use virtual desktops a lot
and the Exposé-clone (minimize all windows and place them non-
overlapping on a single screen) makes it a lot easier for me to locate
the window I need.
The live miniatures, used by the Exposé-clone and the task-switcher,
also helps a lot.
I'll even venture a guess and say that the cube can help people, that
are usually a bit confused by virtual desktops. For me, the cube is
pure eye-candy, just as te wobbly windows are.

The funniest thing is to see the look in the face of the passersby,
when all the bling with wobbly burning windows and animated skydome
cube is turned on.

Some of it might works faster, as the 3D card is responsible for all
the movement of windows and desktops.
